Search Engine Optimization: Your Visual Blueprint for Effective Internet Marketing

  1. I found this book excellent although it may be a bit much for the beginner website developer or internet marketer. Many of the reccomended actions are rather complicated. For the beginner that wants to get going and get his or her website up and running and indexed quickly I would rather look at many of the e-books available [www.searchenginesecrets.co.za]. I find the e-books get right to the point which will get you onto the internet quickly and help you to get the first few sites “under your belt” in no time. Afer that a detalied book like this could make a lot of sense.

  2. Good book with lots of information, but I have two huge problems with it.

    1) The book is incredibly unreadable if you’re trying to make it straight through. Ironically, the book preaches about how harmful repetition is to the SEO process, yet the book uses the same exact phrases ad nauseam in every chapter. It’s not a very technical book, but it is absolutely painful getting through each chapter.

    2) Would be much better if they had an example site that was SEO’d throughout the book. The examples are very poor in general. There aren’t nearly enough code examples and way too many useless screenshots of websites. I don’t need pictures of how to sign up for Google Analytics, I need examples of code that is/isn’t SEO’d.

  3. Are you kidding? Everyone else rates this book with 4 or 5 stars? Well, I guess if you are looking for a topic covered with one-half page of content and then one and one-half pages of illustration, then this is the book for you. Frankly, if I had not already read several books on SEO, I would have walked away after reading this book with knowledge of several strategies and topics but little or no knowledge on how to implement them. This book is the posterchild for concise. If you have a website and you want to learn SEO so you can do-it-yourself then read Peter Kent’s Search Engine Optimization for Dummies. If SEO can be boiled down to one-half page of introduction to a strategy with the “how-to implement” included, why would SEO companies charge upwards of $100 an hour? This book is merely a brief introduction to strategies. It is certainly not a how-to guide. Then maybe the book is intended to introduce SEO related topics so you can find books more detailed on each particular topic.

As an intermediate SEO for specific market, i would like make not that this book is a very book for SEO beginners, it had a good annex for the seo specific words and good description for each start of a chapter…on the other hand, as all SEO knows that everyday there is a new thing in SEO (updates from search engines, new growing social media, etc…) but its a good book to start learning the basicx
